I have had the pleasure to meet and view the wonderful work of artist Patty Spergel and wanted to share. I love her color palette and beautiful abstract forms.

From her artist statement: My most recent paintings evoke, through layered colors and flowing shapes, a world of growth, regeneration and a network of fragile connections. Many of these works have developed out of my continued interest in yoga and more specifically, the sense of concentrated awareness of body in space and time that one attains after a long practice. In paintings such as Reverberate and Interval, idiosyncratic shapes and markings disrupt and energize the expansiveness of the surface, imbuing the paintings with a quirky sense of humor. Private, secret events are glimpsed before they move or change. There is a sense of anticipation in the works.

She's currently in a show in Woodstock, NY: HYBRID - An exhibition of work that hovers between abstraction and representation - mostly abstract which is suggestive of something, often on the verge of recognition but not clearly defined. It also includes mixtures of abstraction and actual representation and mixtures of materials. Curated by Carol March.

She will be featured in the upcoming issue of New American Paintings, Northeast Edition, #92.
