New Year's Day nature walk

Greenwich Point Park overlooking the Long Island Sound.

The park contains ruins of a 37 room mansion built by J. Kennedy Tod in 1887.

Old mansion “Innes Arden” entrance steps.

Memorial boulder honoring the owner.

Steps leading up to the Secret Gardens.

One of the old out buildings: the wagon house.

Ancient trees grow on Tod's Driftway.

Beautiful curved road surrounds a lake.

Grasses grow and protect the salt marshes.

Trails weave along the coastline, woods, marshes, and gardens.

The Sinoway Indians called the area “Monakewago” (shining sands).

The original land was purchased from the Siwanoy Indians in 1640.
